FAQ: Portraits
Q. What types of portraits do you do?
A. As a lifestyle photographer, I focus on capturing the real life interactions of your family, the spontaneity of your children, the passion of your senior, the energy of your dog and the joy you all share. You won’t find me begging your children to sit, say cheese or trying to wrangle them. It’s all about capturing the true spirit of life.
I am a curator and artist of life itself. To find the truly beautiful and meaningful and INSIGHTFUL moments and places and things. No matter what I’m photographing (family, kids, pets, seniors), I’m always looking for the deeper story that will continue to move you every time you encounter the photograph.
Q. How much is an 8×10?
A. Each archival, museum quality 8×10 is $75 ala carte or $55 with the purchase of a collection. Collections offer a substantial savings over ala carte purchases.
Q. How much are collections?
A. Collections start at $265 with most clients investing $700-$1500 including a legacy archive, album or other ‘have it all’ keepsake.
Q. What is a legacy archive?
A. A legacy art archive is like digital negatives only better. Most photographers just give you the straight out of camera (SOOC) files which aren’t enhanced, balanced, sharpened or otherwise print ready. Ours are! What you see in your gallery or at your premier is exactly what you’ll see on your disc. Beautifully enhanced, color corrected, balanced and print ready images. Just insert into your computer and away you go!
Q. You mention enhancements-what does that entail?
A. A curated collection of images made by the artist will be individually artistically rendered. All images are carefully interpreted to tell the inner story using mood, lighting and post production enhancements. Enhancements include the use of fine art black and white, color techniques, and other post production work.
Great artists don’t take great photos-they MAKE them.
Q. Can we really have prints made anywhere?
A. You bet! If you choose to purchase a collection with a legacy art archive, you’ll also receive print permission granting you the ability to get prints made, anywhere, anytime. We’ll even give you a list of our favorite places to make it easy.
Q.Can we still order prints from you?
A. Of course! We use an amazing professional lab that produces museum quality artwork so if you would like us to handle your printing, just let us know!
Q. Do you offer framing and installation?
A. You bet! Not only will we help you select the perfect images for your wall collection, have them printed on the highest quality materials and framed to match your decor, we’ll also install your gallery so all you have to do is sit back and relax!
Q. How far in advance should we book our session?
A. May-October we recommend that you book your session 8-10 weeks in advance. November-April 4-6 weeks is typically far enough to get you the choice of days and times to work with your schedule. Maternity should book their session to occur around week 32-34 of your pregnancy. For newborns, contact us 6-8 weeks in advance of your due date so we can make room in our schedule for both the week before and after your due date.
Q. When should we plan to have our newborn photos done?
A. For the best, cuddly, sleepy newborn photos, plan on having us there within the first 14 days of life. If you prefer to have open eyed baby and a lifestyle session, we can shoot up to 3 weeks after birth.
